Other News
Contributions for a new special issue on CT model identification now sought! Please refer to the Call for Papers for more information.
IET Control Theory and Applications now publishes 'Brief Papers' and 'Regular Papers'. The journal regards 'Brief Papers' as brief presentations of new technical concepts and developments, whilst 'Regular Papers' report detailed discussion involving new research, applications or developments. The distinction between regular papers and brief papers is not one of quality, but of nature. Normally, a brief paper will have one main point to make, which can be done succinctly and clearly, whereas a regular paper will be a more detailed and in-depth treatment of a problem area.
As part of its ongoing commitment to authors and subscribers, IET Control Theory & Applications is now published monthly.
Scope
IET Control Theory & Applications is devoted to control systems in the broadest sense, covering new theoretical results and the applications of new and established control methods. Among the topics of interest are system modelling, identification and simulation, the analysis and design of control systems (including computer-aided design), and practical implementation. The scope encompasses technological, economic, physiological (biomedical) and other systems, including man-machine interfaces.
Most of the papers published deal with original work from industrial and government laboratories and universities, but subject reviews and tutorial expositions of current methods are welcomed. Correspondence discussing published papers is also welcomed.
Applications papers need not necessarily involve new theory; papers which describe new realisations of established methods, or control techniques applied in a novel situation, or practical studies which compare various designs, would be of interest. Of particular value are theoretical papers which discuss the applicability of new work, or applications which engender new theoretical applications.
Forthcoming Special Issue
IET Control Theory and Applications is delighted to be working with the United Kingdom Automatic Control Council (UKACC) to publish a Special Issue based on the theme 'Advances in Complex Control Systems Theory and Applications'. Suitably expanded and enhanced papers originally submitted to the Control 2008 conference will appear in a dedicated special issue to be published in early 2010.

Citing this Journal
IET Control Theory and Applications is usually cited by the abbreviated title 'IET Control Theory Appl.' Every article in this journal is assigned a Crossref DOI, which is displayed on the article abstract page.
Previous Title
IET Control Theory and Applications was previously published as IEE Proceedings Control Theory & Applications. Following the merger on March 31st 2006 between the IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers) and the IIE (The Institution of Incorporated Engineers) to form the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the IEE Proceedings suite of journals changed name at the beginning of 2007 to reflect the fact that they are now published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. IET Control Theory and Applications starts from Volume 1, Issue 1 from January 2007 onwards. All other benefits of publishing in the journal, including our worldwide readership and database coverage, remain unchanged.
Online subscribers to IET Control Theory and Applications can also access all backfile issues of IEE Proceedings Control Theory & Applications from 1994-2006 as part of their current online subscription.
