FIG. 1.

Background corrected pixel values as a function of dose are shown for EBT and EDR2 film scanned with the Epson and Vidar scanners. The Vidar scanner was used with both the linear and logarithmic translation table resulting in different calibration curves.

FIG. 2.

An IMRT planar dose distribution for a larynx treatment is shown. The identical EBT film has been scanned twice on the Vidar scanner in logarithmic mode and is shown in the upper panel. Different artifacts can be observed. The Vidar scan in linear mode is shown on the lower left and the Epson scan on the lower right.

FIG. 3.

The isodose distributions for an IMRT treatment of the right tonsil obtained from the same EBT film scanned with the Epson and with the Vidar in two scanning modes are compared to the calculated distribution. The thick lines represent the calculations and the thin lines are the measurements. The corresponding numerical indices are also given.

Percentage depth dose is shown for a , radiation beam measured with EDR2 and EBT film and scanned with the Vidar in linear and logarithmic scanning mode and Epson scanners.

FIG. 5.

The isodose distributions for the same , radiation beam are shown. Isodoses measured from the Epson scanner are shown as thick lines and compared to the Vidar scans in linear and logarithmic mode, shown as thin lines.

The analysis of IMRT EBT and EDR2 films relative to the ADAC Pinnacle TPS dose maps is shown. EDR2 films are analyzed for ten patients with different treatment sites. EBT films are analyzed for 34 cases. The Vidar scanner is used in a scanning mode with either the logarithmic or the linear translation table, with the latter indicated with (linear) mark in the first column. The numbers in brackets indicate the standard deviation of the result.

Differences in the measurement of the three indices analyzed with the Epson Expression 1680 and the Vidar VXR 16 for both EDR2 and EBT films are given. Ten IMRT cases with various treatment sites are analyzed. The difference is shown in percentage points relative to the corresponding Epson scan results. The values marked with asterisk in the EBT column are the ones obtained using the Vidar linear translation table as opposed to the logarithmic one which is used for the nonmarked values.
