5.For the purposes of this letter, we will use the notation that Al/X is a multilayered foil with Al and element X. x Al:y Zr refers to a sample with overall chemistry of x atoms of Al to y atoms of Zr. Finally, we used AlxZry to refer to specific crystalline intermetallic compounds with that formula unit and Al-X to refer to a variety of crystalline intermetallics containing Al and element X.
