Electrocaloric effect direct measurement from DSC and IR systems. Open circles are for IR results and black squares are for DSC results. Both results may be read in left and right axis whose correspondence is the thermal heat capacity set at 1500 J/(kg K) and measurements around 300 K. On the top left hand corner is displayed a typical heat flow signal from DSC.
Frequency dependence of ECE in P(VDF-TrFE-CFE) terpolymer obtained using IR imaging characterization. The measurements were performed at 60 V/μm on a 1 cm × 1 cm × 50 μm sample. On the bottom left hand corner is shown an enlargement of temperature signal right after an electric field step, showing the electrocaloric creep effect.
