6.The bands of ‐doped occur at shorter wavelengths than for ‐doped YAG, thus accounting for the red rather than green coloration of the crystals.
7.Nd: rods of other orientations have exhibited a preference for oscillation at 1.0795μm (see Refs. 1 and 2). Lasing at 1.0725 and 1.0795μ could also be obtained from the c‐axis rod by properly orienting an intracavity polarizer in the manner of Ref. 2.
