GaAs: Si LED Pumped Yb‐Doped YAG Laser
.L. F. Johnson, J. E. Geusic, and L. G. Van Uitert, Appl. Phys. Letters 7, 127 (1965).
.Optical efficiency is defined to be 100 times the laser output power divided by the total optical power emitted by the LED’s.
.Unlike YAG:Nd, there is no concentration quenching in YAG:Yb, except that due to energy migration to energy sinks.
.P. A. Arsen’ev, E. F. Kustov, L. Li, and M. V. Chukichev, Sov. Phys. Crystallogr. 13, 640 (1969).
.The internal power efficiency of the laser is 90% compared to 78% for pumped by LED’s emitting at 8200 Å. Consequently, with higher quality YAG:Yb containing fewer “energy‐sink” impurities, minimal heat is dissipated within the rod.
