4.The NRL laser system used for these experiments consisted of a mode‐locked oscillator, single‐pulse switch, two preamplifiers, three amplifiers, and a Pockels cell isolator. The details of the system will be published at a later date. The focal spot size is estimated from the wave‐front distortion and the lens quality.
