14.This is in contrast to recent predictions of a diverging as approaches by T. M. Antonsen and E. Ott (unpublished). Their calculation, however, is based on an adiabatic switching model which results in a uniform distribution of particle kinetic energies across the gap. On what time scales this hypothesis might be valid depends on, among other things, loss mechanisms of the initially emitted particles.
