Nonlinear optical response of metal‐barrier‐metal junctions
1.J. G. Simmons, J. Appl. Phys. 34, 2581 (1963).
2.For a trapezoidally shaped barrier, the total potential of the negatively biased junction is given by (Ref. 1) where is the difference between the work functions, s is the barrier thickness, and ε is the dielectric constant of the barrier. The last term is the contribution by the surface charges induced by the tunneling electrons.
