14.Arsenic exists in more than one crystalline modification. Vibrational spectra for the orthorhombic black phosphorous structure were recently reported by Lannin and Shannabrook [J. S. Lannin and B. V. Shanabrook, 14th International Conf. Physics of Semiconductors, Edinburgh, 1978 (unpublished)]. The strongest modes in o‐As occur at and The shoulder observed in the arsenic spectra at may indicate that more than one crystalline modification is involved.
