9.The small effects observed with the slotted toroid can be rationalized by considering the ZFC sample tends to exclude the applied field from the superconductor as is increased and thereby slightly hunching the field in the center of the slotted toroid. The sample cooled in 23 G will trap some flux in the superconductor and at the residual induced magnetic moment will give rise to a negative in the center of the toroid. For smaller excursions of the effect on produced by the actual superconducting material will be less than the 10% effect observed at G and will be ignored in subsequent discussion.
