6.It is likely that appreciable pulse amplitude compression occurred in the photodiode because of variations in electron multiplication with variations in bias when the light signal was at its peak. It should be pointed out that Crowell3 has observed pulses with a high‐speed photomultiplier tube which agree well with theory.
