Table I.

Average room temperature Seebeck values and standard deviation (std. dev.) from direct two-point Seebeck measurements. All the alloy samples prepared by slow cooling are significantly more inhomogeneous than the PbTe sample from Teledyne. Quenching produces less variation (std. dev.) in Seebeck values than slow cooling.
