(a) High-resolution TEM image of an octahedral FePt nanoparticle with its [001] ( axis) lying in plane. (b) Geometric mean particle size distribution. Individual particle projection area was measured and converted to effective diameter. By fitting the data to Gaussian distribution function, a mean size of and a standard deviation of (11%) were found.
