FIG. 1.

(Color online) Time-domain wave form of the terahertz pulse radiated from the thin film measured at zero-bias electric field once after poling the film with a bias electric field of under laser illumination (solid line) and at dark (dashed line). The respective data are normalized by the peak amplitude of the data shown by the solid line.

FIG. 2.

(Color online) Peak terahertz signal at zero-bias electric field measured as a function of bias electric field initially applied for poling . Closed squares represent the curve in which was applied with combination of laser illumination. Open squares and the closed circles represent the curve in which was applied without laser illumination. Open squares are the first run, which was taken after initially poling the film with of under laser illumination, and the closed circles are the second run subsequently taken after the open squares. Respective data are normalized by the maximum value of shown by the closed squares.

FIG. 3.

Cross section profile of the peak terahertz signal along the direction perpendicular to the electrodes, which was measured at zero-bias electric field after applying a bias electric field of (a) under laser illumination and (b) at dark. The shaded regions in the respective panels represent the areas occupied by the gold surface electrodes. The cause of not being zero in the electrode regions is merely a problem of resolution, which depends on the size of the laser spot. The data shown in both panels are normalized by the peak value of in (a).

FIG. 4.

Peak terahertz signal at zero-bias electric field measured as a function of the laser power illuminated during poling. Data are normalized by the value at .
