The effect of the release holes on the normalized transmission. The radius of the release holes was systematically changed from 0.00 to (not all shown here), where is the lattice constant. It is evident that the predominant effect of the release holes is to reduce the transmission in the low frequency region and redshift the low frequency edge of the gap.
