PC: personal computer, PID: proportional-integral-derivative controller, BS: beam splitter, PSD: position-sensitive detector, NDF: neutral density filter, CM: chirped mirror. PSD 1 is used inside the feedback loop for stabilization, while (a) PSD 2 is used for monitoring the beam stability outside the feedback loop. (b) The spectrum broadened by the self-phase modulation in the fiber was monitored with a spectrometer. The compressed pulse duration was measured with SPIDER after dispersion compensation with CM.
