Surface tension reduction of water droplet with ionization rate . The surface tension reduction of irradiated water with respect to pure water, , is plotted as a function of the ionization rate , defined as the number of charges per a square of the droplet radius. The curve is the function , derived from the equation to link surface tension and surface ionization. A good agreement is found between experiment (open squares, from Ref. 9) and calculation (solid line).

An estimation of the number of charges required for a substantial surface tension reduction as a function of radius . The estimates are numerically obtained between (or ) and 0.80 (or ) for a range described in Fig. 1. The number of charges is estimated as or 2 on a tiny droplet, for instance, of for or 0.80, respectively.
