Room temperature photoluminescence spectrum of molecules trapped within 1–2 nm sized nanocavities in alumina. The peak at 497 nm is due to direct transition across the HOMO-LUMO gap, while the other peaks are either due to interference of waves reflected from front and back of the sample or due to impurities introduced during the processing steps.
