(Color online) Typical sets of local I-V characteristics obtained via C-AFM with positive tip bias at different temperatures for two samples, one with average NC radius r = 5.7 nm (a) and the other with r = 5.1 nm (c). The conductance values at high (above Vt, marked by the arrows) and low voltages, GH and GL, derived from the curves in (a) and (c), are presented in (b) and (d), respectively. A schematic of the measurement configuration is shown in the lower inset to (a), whereas in the upper inset, a typical topographic image (80 × 80 nm2) is presented. The inset to (c) shows a blow up of the curves at 300 K and 35 K (crossing the former from below), where the arrows mark the Vt value for each curve.
