Polar plots for (A) fluorescence emission from FITC-HSA coated glass slides and (B) fluorescence enhancement factor, i.e., the ratio of emission intensity of FITC-HSA at on silver films, after annealing and the emission intensity of FITC-HSA on glass slides measured at 225 degrees. (C) Photostability of FITC-HSA measured at 225 and 340 degrees on a annealed silver film. A separate experiment, where the initial emission intensity at 225 degrees was matched to the steady-state emission intensity at 340 degrees by reducing the excitation intensity with a neutral density filter, was also undertaken. Real-color photographs show the fluorescence emission from FITC-HSA taken through a emission filter at 225 degrees. No Pol-No Polarization, Pol: -polarization, Pol: -polarization.
