Rietveld refined XRD patterns of (a) magnetite and (b) poly(thiophene)/magnetite nanoparticles. The patterns have been assigned to crystallites with spinel structure ( space group) for both samples. For the nanocomposite, in addition to magnetite lines, a background characteristic of polymer materials is observed.
Bright-field TEM images showing (a) magnetite and (b) poly(thiophene)/magnetite nanoparticles. The bottom insets show the histograms of particle diameters obtained from TEM images (the straight lines are lognormal fittings).
Temperature dependence of the magnetization of magnetite and poly(thiophene)/magnetite nanoparticles for FC and ZFC curves. All measurements were performed with a magnetic field probe of 200 Oe. The curves show typical SPM behavior.
(at 300 K) curves for (a) magnetite and (b) poly(thiophene)/magnetite nanoparticles. The continuous curves are the best fits obtained for each sample using Eq. (4). The insets show the particle diameter distribution obtained by fitting.
Mean particle diameters , , and and crystallite sizes determined from FC and ZFC (FC-ZFC) magnetic curves, magnetization curves at 300 K, TEM, and XRD for the magnetite nanoparticles and the magnetite/poly(thiophene) nanocomposite. is the saturation magnetization and the standard deviation.
