FIG. 1.

X-ray powder diffraction patterns and the profile fits for the Rietveld refinement of (Sm1− x Nd x )1.5Sr0.5NiO4 ceramics: (a) x = 0.2, (b) x = 0.4, (c) x = 0.6, (d) x = 0.8. Different lines are shifted downwards for clarity reasons.

FIG. 2.

Lattice parameters of (Sm1− x Nd x )1.5Sr0.5NiO4 ceramics as a function of x. The structure of the ceramics of x = 1.0 is a tetragonal phase, and the cell parameters are converted to orthorhombic ones for comparison: a o = a t , b o = a t , where a o, b o are lattice parameters of an orthorhombic phase, a t is lattice parameter of a tetragonal phase.

FIG. 4.

Temperature dependence of dielectric properties of (Sm1− x Nd x )1.5Sr0.5NiO4 ceramics at different frequencies: (a) x = 0.2, (b) x = 0.4, (c) x = 0.6, (d) x = 0.8.

FIG. 5.

The fitting results from the modified Debye equation and Arrhenius equation. The left part is frequency dependence of dielectric constant for (Sm1− x Nd x )1.5Sr0.5NiO4 ceramics at low temperature. The solid lines are fitting results according to the modified Debye equation. The right part is relaxation time as a function of 1000/T. The solid lines are Arrhenius fitting.

FIG. 6.

Complex impedance spectra of (Sm1− x Nd x )1.5Sr0.5NiO4 ceramics at various temperatures and adiabatic small polaronic hopping fitting for the resistance of bulk and grain boundary in the ceramics: (a) x = 0.2, (b) x = 0.4, (c) x = 0.6, (d) x = 0.8.
