Behavior of the DSC lines of ∼0.2 mm particles of unsaturated LaFeSiH. Particles started with a narrow DSC line (continuous line). After a year at Tc of 23 °C, the DSC broadened and split (dotted line) to a line width W (arrows). Annealing at 36 °C recovered the narrow DSC peak in 19 days (dashed line).
The limiting value of the splitting of the DSC lines of La(Fe0.885Si0.115)Hy particles in the 0.15–0.25 mm size range when held at their initial Curie temperature.
Temperature dependent recovery of LaFeSiH with an initial 2.1 °C width magnetic transition, which had widened to 14 °C after a 1 yr hold near its 26.7 °C Tc. (a) Reduction in line width, showing increasing negative slope with temperature. (b) Logarithm of the recovery rate (the slopes in (a)) versus inverse Kelvin temperature.
Particles of LaFeSiH with a split DSC line, which were then ground into smaller pieces and held above the Curie point, did not recover the unsplit line, in contrast to the unground particles of Figure 1 .
