Schematic illustration of the polarizations and orientations of the incident X-ray in XMCD-PEEM and XMLD-PEEM. Here, we show the incident beam for XMCD-PEEM and the s-polarization incident beam for XMLD-PEEM. The bright region of the XMCD-PEEM indicates that the FM spins are in-plane and along the incident X-ray or are oriented downward to the plane. The dark regions show opposite directions. The bright region in XMLD-PEEM indicates that the AF spins are in-plane and orthogonal to the incident beam. The dark region indicates that the AF spins may be in-plane and along the incident beam or perpendicular to the plane.
