Possible mechanisms for free radical photo-polymerization process on acrylate induced by Fe3+, under irradiation of a laser light. In the scheme are indicated two ways: (a) an electron transfer from a monomer molecule to Fe3+ with consequent formation of carbon centered free radicals; (b) via electron transfer from the water present in the complex to Fe3+; in this latter case it should be hypothesized the intermediate formation of hydroxyl radical (OH).
