Determination of diffusion velocities in argon and helium plasmas
1.Some of the conditions can be stated as follows: ion‐neutral effective collision frequency low enough and in order to avoid strong wave damping; electron temperature close to being uniform in the region of the ion acoustic wave velocity measurement to make possible the calculation of the plasma diffusion velocity from the slope of the graph of wave amplitude versus transmitter‐receiver distance; low plasma noise to allow detection of the ion acoustic wave anisotropy in phase velocity.
