9.The lattice constant for δ‐Fe in the as‐quenched is 0.2905 nm, which is a reasonable extrapolation for the room temperature spacing for δ‐Fe ( at 1700K). It is also possible that the lattice constant expansion to 0.2904 nm is the result of solid solution of 6 at.% Zr in α‐Fe. However this seems unlikely because of the simultaneous observation of α‐Fe and δ‐Fe in the x‐ray diffraction pattern.
