4.(these proceedings). In this model, the Fe slabs are represented by magnetic moments associated with localized Fe interface states. We believe the underlying theory (Ref. 12) is more suitable for dealing with localized impurity states, as we have done, than with strongly coupled interface states.

10.As a rough approximation, we can average total energy differences as follows: where the refer to solutions based on atomically abrupt interfaces. Such averaging assumes pure Fe and Cr regions separated by interfaces half of whose sites are randomly occupied by Fe and the remaining half by Cr.
