Image of FIG. 1.
FIG. 1.

Experimental XRS spectra recoded for water corresponding to the oxygen absorption edge. Each spectrum is normalized by the edge-jump height. At the experimental condition of p3, two spectra were collected with Si(444) and Si(555) which are labeled as p3E8 and p3E10, respectively.

FIG. 2.

XRS spectra magnified from of Fig. 1. The solid squares and lines indicate measured points and fitted spectra (Solid: preedge peak; thin: the other two Gaussians; gray: sum of three Gaussians).

Image of FIG. 3.
FIG. 3.

Near-edge spectra obtained at 0.27 and indicated by solid squares and circles, respectively, with those reported at the ambient pressure and (Ref. 17) indicated by open diamonds and triangles, respectively. The intensity is normalized by each peak height.

Image of FIG. 4.
FIG. 4.

Pressure dependence of the preedge peak area. The normalized area means the area of the first Gaussian divided by that of the full area of each spectrum up to . The dotted arrows are only guides for the eyes.
