Two articles have recently appeared that question the validity of the Young equation. The authors propose to add a new term, but their derivation is based on two mathematical errors, and they neglect gravity, mass transport at the interface and adsorption effects. Thus, the model they propose cannot account for the experimentally observed dependence of a sessile-droplet-contact angle on three-phase line curvature and on the pressure in the liquid phase at the three-phase line.
