19.The and salts are distorted from by rotation of about all three cubic axis and by translation of the ion along x, y, and z (cubic cell). In contrast, the salt at room temperature exhibits rotation of the ion about the z axis and translation of along the cubic cell direction. The greater distortions in the case of and are a result of the replacement of the ion by the larger and congeners. It is important to note that no new phase change must be involved to explain the greater distortions exhibited by and since these additional distortions are allowed degrees of freedom in the cell found for
