A Curve Tracer for Two, Three or Four Variables

4.The valve that was used was of the cylindrical split anode type with an axial filament (kindly supplied by the General Electric Company, London). The two anodes were connected to a resonant system and held at a definite positive potential Va relative to the filament. As the field strength is increased the electron stream from filament to anode becomes more and more bent until at “cut‐off” there is a rapid decrease of anode current. Oscillations are observed in general at this point of cut‐off.
