Spatial profile of D–D fusion reactions along a radial chord through a spherically concentric IEC device collected from the TOF diagnostic. Results are displayed as counts per unit volume along the chord, with the counts normalized to compensate for the slight broadening of the region of view that occurs towards the intersection of the region of view of each TOF arm.
Spatial profile of core region of IEC device when cathode is shifted by 1 cm in both directions along the radial chord of view of the TOF diagnostic. Results indicate the TOF diagnostic was able to recognize the shift in the peak in fusion counts.
Energy spectra collected at 60 kV, 30 mA, 2 mTorr deuterium. All counts are normalized for the same total collection time. Magnetic field at which each one of these configuration was set was first predicted by SIMION and then confirmed as the ideal point experimentally.
