Atomic lithium presents an ideal case for the investigations of electron correlation involving three electrons, since it possesses three and only three electrons. An overview as well as new results from a series of collaborative experiments utilizing the photoion time-of-flight methods with synchrotron radiation at the Photon Factory are presented. These include the photoexcitation resonances as well as photoionization into the continuum, with the direct participation of all three electrons.
