Separation of -hexakis-dicarboxymethanofullerene- from its degradation products has been performed using Dionex ASA4 ion exchange chromatographic column. Previously developed  separation method was optimized and used for the monitoring of the degradation processes of -hexakis-dicarboxymethanofullerene- A gradient elution method was used for the baseline separation of fullerene derivatives. The eluent (KOH) concentration was increased from 0.4 M up to 1 M. -hexakis-dicarboxymethanofullerene- and its degradation products were detected by UV absorption at 330 nm. Stability of -hexakis-dicarboxymethanofullerene- in aqueous solutions has been investigated at different conditions. It was found that -hexakis-dicarboxymethanofullerene- is stable in basic aqueous solutions while in acidic and neutral solutions degradation was observed. Elevated temperature accelerates degradation.
