The coincidence imaging technique is applied to direct determination of the momentum vectors of all the fragment ions produced through every event of the Coulomb explosion of a single molecular ion,
(z = 2 − 4) formed in intense laser fields (0.36 PW/cm2). The molecular structure of
just before the three‐body Coulomb explosion is reconstructed from the measured momentum vectors of the atomic fragment ions. It was confirmed that the skeletal deformation of CS2 is induced to a large extent in intense laser fields.
