Recent results of the Monte Carlo Shell Model and related studies will be presented for some Sn, Te and Ba nuclei. The anomalous B(E2) value of 136Te can be explained within the shell model description which describes the spherical‐to‐deformed phase transition in Ba isotopes. The microscopic realization of E(5) and O(6) symmetries are given with a shell model Hamiltonian which describes energy levels and E2 properties.
