We experimentally demonstrate the possibility of communication over a noisy channel using polarization states of pairs of photons. The channel is modelled by a 20m single‐mode fiber attached to a set of independently moving mechanical pendulums inducing a random birefringence of the fiber and consequently randomly distorting the input polarization state. Nevertheless our experiments shows that it is possible to attain a high communication capacity over such a channel if one encodes the information in polarization states of pairs of photons. We also show that using down‐converted polarization entangled states one can enhance the optimal communication capacity by a factor of 2.5 in comparison with the result obtained for separable states.
