We present a scheme to detect Rabi oscillations of a single two‐level system in real time. The scheme is based on a sequence of consecutive measurements (sequential measurement). A measure of the strength of the sequential measurement can be obtained from the decoherence rate induced by the measurements. If the measurements are too strong the oscillations are distorted or even destroyed (Quantum Zeno Effect). If the measurements are too weak their outcomes are only poorly correlated to the quantum signal. We review successful detection results for intermediate strength. In addition a new detection scheme operating with very weak measurements is mentioned. This scheme is based on a Bayesian estimator, which accumulates the information gathered during the sequence of measurements.
