Results are presented on the experimental excitation functions for the fusion reaction
6He,xn)203‐xnTl, where x = 2–7, and for the transfer reaction
Au. Below the Coulomb barrier, the experimental fusion cross section, corresponding to the 2n‐evaporation channel, exceeds the calculations within the statistical model. The pick‐up of one neutron by the target is observed at deep sub‐barrier energies.
