Gold nanoparticles of regular shape have been obtained by thermal decomposition of molecules dissolved in different amorphous polymers. In particular, the formation of triangular nano‐platelets has been observed using poly(vinyl acetate) and poly(methyl methacrylate) as particle growth medium. Whereas, when polymers with less‐bonding side‐groups were used (e.g., poly(vinyl alcohol), polystyrene), the gold nanoparticles did not develop a regular shape during their growth.
