We present a study on metastable dissociation of deprotonated ribonucleosides, and compare their fragmentation with their DNA analogues 2’‐deoxyribonucleosides previously studied in our group [Flosadottir et al., J. Phys. Conf. Ser. 2008. 101(012017), p. 1742]̤ When compared with the metastable decay of 2’‐deoxyribonucleosides it is clear that the fragmentation does not depend on the 2’‐hydroxyl group. There are on the other hand specific characteristic fragments formed dependent upon the type of base, i.e. if the base is a purine or a pyrimidine base. These fragments are discussed in context to the underlying fragmentation mechanism.
