Recent theoretical predictions of the TeV‐luminosity of SN 1006 under various scenarii are only a factor of 2 to 3 below the previously published H.E.S.S. upper limit, thus motivating further in‐depth observations of this source. After analysing more than 100 hours of accumulated H.E.S.S. data a signal associated with the remnant of SN 1006 has finally been detected. The measured gamma‐ray flux is of order 1% that detected from the Crab Nebula, consistent with the previously established H.E.S.S. upper limit. The new results and morphological comparisons with X‐ray data on this source is presented at the conference.
