One‐step and two‐step DWBA analyses via one‐nucleon transfer channel have been made for spin‐ and isospin‐flip reaction of 1 4N(p↘,p′)1 4N(2.31 MeV) at 21.0 MeV. The one‐step DWBA predicts the pattern of differential cross section reasonably well, but not the vector analyzing power. Some one‐fifth of the differential cross section is predicted by finite‐range two‐step calculation via the ground state of 1 3N. Inclusion of the (p,d)(d,p′) process reproduces the experimental data and reduces the strength of the effective interaction of the inelastic scattering by a factor of 2.
