THE REFLECTION OF THE FUNDAMENTAL TORSIONAL MODE FROM AXI‐SYMMETRIC DEFECTS WITH VARYING PROFILE IN PIPES

The objective of this work is to study of the reflection of the fundamental torsional mode T(0, 1) from axi‐symmetric defects with varying depth profile. This paper presents firstly a numerical analysis of the scattering from tapered steps in 3 inch steel pipes. After that a study of the reflection coefficient spectra from tapered defects with varying slopes of the tapered zone has been carried out. The analysis is validated by experiments.
