Pulse front distortion caused by chromatic aberration and coma is studied by the use of spectral interferometry. The spatial‐temporal intensity profile of the pulse is obtained directly from the spectral interferogram using a new, simplified Fourier‐transform evaluation method. The measured shape of the pulse fronts fits the shape predicted by theory.
