Approaches for the Generation of High‐Power Terahertz Radiation Using the Extreme Light Infrastructure

The potential to produce high power radiation in the terahertz band using intense laser systems is discussed. Mechanisms for terahertz generation from relativistic electron beams and laser interactions with a solid target are described. Current state‐of‐the‐art sources are reviewed and considerations for the implementation of a terahertz source within the Extreme Light Infrastructure are presented.
