We present time‐domain computations of electron energy loss spectra for electron beams that interact with metallic nano‐particles. Corresponding Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS) experiments are often used to probe the plasmonic properties of these particles. In these experiments, the impact parameters are usually rather small as compared to the particle size and, therefore, make the accurate modeling of such systems demanding. The discontinuous Galerkin time‐domain (DGTD) method is well suited for these geometries and our DGTD‐based computations compare very well with analytical results that are available for spheres.
