It has been predicted in perturbative QCD that nuclear matter would become ‘‘transpart’’ to hadrons involved in exclusive reactions at large momentum transfer. This prediction, known as ‘‘color transparency’’, is a consequence of arguments based on fundamental aspects of the hadronic interactions in QCD. The quasielastic (e, e
p) process in nuclei is a particularly clean process to study this effect. An experiment performed at SLAC and proposals for new experiments will be discussed.
